St. Catharines
Also know as “The Garden City”, St. Catharines is one of the largest cities located within the Niagara Region. The city is located right between the GTA (Great Toronto Area) and a city called Fort Erie. It’s very close to the United States border as well. The largest industry that St. Catharines thrives off of, is that of manufacturing.
St. Catharines also plays a very important part of telecommunications. It’s one of the major crutches between Canada and the United States – and because of this, there are many different call centers located within the city.
In terms of geography and attractions, there are a couple of major parks located in the city:
- Montebello Park. This was actually designed by a man named Frederick Olmsted – his claim to fame was to that of designing and building New York City’s Central Park back in the 1800’s.
- Happy Rolph’s Bird Sanctuary. This beautiful sanctuary is home to hundreds upon hundreds birds that are either native to St. Catharines, as well as migratory birds.
